Obstetric Hemorrhage

Nebraska is a proud member of the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM). AIM is a national data-driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiative based on proven implementation approaches to improving maternal safety and outcomes in the U.S. AIM’s goal is to eliminate preventable maternal mortality and severe morbidity across the United States.

Obstetric Hemorrhage

Obstetric hemorrhage remains one of the most serious threats to maternal health in Nebraska and across the United States. This life-threatening complication is a leading cause of maternal illness and death, with research showing that 54-90% of these deaths are preventable. The devastating impact makes it crucial for healthcare providers to implement comprehensive prevention and treatment strategies.

Hospital teams are working to implement rigorous protocols to improve patient outcomes during obstetric hemorrhage events. This includes establishing dedicated hemorrhage carts, standardizing emergency protocols, and developing regular team training drills to ensure coordinated, rapid response.
